Miel Patisserie gets a new look.

 

Knock-down packaging is seen all around from shipping boxes to gift boxes. It’s a vital thing for a designer to be able to tackle, to design and construct.

I created packaging for my favorite bakery and cafe in Philadelphia, Miel Patisserie, based on the logo and textures in their Rittenhouse Square storefront.

I was inspired by things considered quintessentially French in order to appeal to the adult female demographic that frequented the locale. I used colored ribbons and gleaned inspiration from twentieth century hat boxes.

The smallest box is for Miel’s individual cakes (I would like to recommend their “Luxe” cake). The larger box is for biscotti, fudge, macarons, or any medium-sized pastry that tends to be ordered in threes or more.

The drawstring bag is for either carrying the smaller boxes, or for a full-sized cake (meant for sharing because they’re so decadent). In the case of cake, the bag folds completely flat without disturbing the cake by simply loosening the ribbon-braided strings.
